Bereavement

How did it all slip away? I just can’t move forward without you. Yesterday you were beside me and breathing. Now today you’re in the ground cold and atrophied.

I won’t forget your touch, your face, the way you handled me when I was at my lowest, your scent, your traits, how you affected me just by the smile across your face.

And though my heart won’t accept it, my mind says that you’re in a better place. But still my heart won’t accept this. I must figure out a way to release this pain.

Never will I pretend you’re not a part of me. So, I’ll remember things; like all the journeys we traveled and all the sights of the places that we have been. Never will I pretend you’re not a part of me. So I remember things; our hours of conversation, all that I learned from the words that you spoke to me.

Oh how I long to see your face again. I’ll live on through your memories.

Never will I pretend you’re not a part of me. So, I’ll remember things; like all the journeys we traveled and all the sights of the places that we have been. Never will I pretend you’re not a part of me. So I remember things; our hours of conversation, all that I learned from the words that you spoke to me.

Although I can’t see your face anymore, I still feel your presence all around me. So until we meet again, I will speak to you in this way.

I Won’t Forget!

How did it all slip away? I now must move forward without you. Yesterday you were beside me and breathing. Now today you’re in the ground cold and atrophied.

These memories live on. Together we’ll move forward. Your strength is carried on. Bereaved, but not forgot.
